Handmade Moses Baskets for Newborns
Every basket here is crocheted by hand from certified cotton cord and set on a solid birch rocking stand. It arrives as one finished sleeping place — basket, orthopaedic mattress, stand and covers in a single box — and it ships from our own workshop in Ukraine to the USA, Europe and beyond.
Is a handmade moses basket a real bed, or just a carrier?
Ours is a bed. Inside there is a firm orthopaedic mattress, not a soft pad, and the basket sits on a stand at adult-bed height rather than on the floor. You will also see it called a bassinet, a crib basket or simply a first bed — same object, different words.
What it is not is a travel carrier. It is light enough to move between rooms by the handles, but it is built for sleep at home during the months when a full cot is too big.
Two sizes, and nothing in between
- Standard 70×40 cm — the straight-from-hospital size, comfortable to around 5–6 months. UAH 12,320.
- Comfort 80×40 cm — the same basket with more room, comfortable to around 7–8 months. UAH 13,820.
The stand is identical for both, and the assembled height is 72 cm — level with an adult mattress, so the basket can stand against your own bed for night feeds. We deliberately make no size between the two: a few weeks of difference is not worth a harder decision.
What comes in the box
Hand-crocheted basket, orthopaedic mattress, birch rocking stand with stoppers, a small horse pendant, gift packaging and textile storage covers. Nothing needs to be bought separately to start using it.
The one thing you choose on your own is bedding: muslin sets are cut to size, and Standard and Comfort take different patterns.
Materials you can check
The cord is Oeko-Tex certified cotton. The stand is solid birch, hand-sanded and left completely unfinished — no lacquer, no paint, so the wood keeps its own colour and smell. The mattress is pressed linen, registered with the Ministry of Health of Ukraine as a medical-purpose product and covered by a state patent; we send the documents on request.
Basket colours are Natural, Sand and Beige — three quiet unbleached shades chosen to sit calmly in a nursery.
Lead time and delivery
Each basket is crocheted to order, so production takes 14 working days. Within Ukraine delivery follows in 1–2 days by Nova Poshta, Ukrposhta or Meest Express; international orders ship worldwide. Exchange and return are guaranteed for 14 days. Made in Ukraine, in our own workshop.
